Detention under the Mental Health Act can be a frightening experience but also creates rights for the patient and sometimes for their relatives. The team have very extensive knowledge and understanding of representing clients under the Mental Health Act, especially those who have been sent to hospital by the courts.

Represent clients at Mental Health Tribunals under legal aid.


Where appropriate, represent clients at Hospital Managers and other meetings.


Act to ensure that Health Authorities fulfill Human Rights obligations to patients, for example, to treat patients locally to their family.


Represent clients to ensure that Local Authorities provide adequate aftercare support to those discharged into the community following detention under the Mental Health Act, so as to prevent them being re-detained and to allow them to live securely in the community.
